Consulate General reports possible death of two Russians after landslide in Phuket

It has become known about an accident that occurred in Thailand.

As a result of the landslide, a tourist villa was destroyed, where, according to preliminary data, Russian citizens were living.

RIA Novosti journalists learned about this from the Russian Consul General in Phuket, Yegor Ivanov.

According to a representative of the Russian diplomatic mission, two bodies were found, which, according to preliminary data, may belong to Russians.

At the moment, the identities of the deceased are being established; no other details are being reported.

Circumstances of the incident

The accident occurred due to heavy rains that hit the resort town of Phuket.

The natural disaster caused a landslide that partially destroyed a villa on Mount Karon.

It is noted that as a result of the search operation, the bodies of eight people who lived here were found. It is assumed that two of the deceased were Russian citizens, the rest of the victims were residents of Thailand and Myanmar.
