Yagi collapses bridge with people and cars in Vietnam

Super Typhoon Yagi hit Southeast Asia, causing an emergency in Vietnam.

The elements caused the collapse of a transport bridge in the north of the country.

Viet Nam News reports that there were cars and motorcycles on the Phong Chau Bridge at the time of the incident.

Two spans of the bridge that serves as a crossing over the Red River in Phu Tho province collapsed. The structure has a total of eight spans.

About 10 cars and two motorcycles with people on them fell into the water.

At least 13 people were injured. Rescuers arrived at the scene. They found 4 injured people, three were sent to the hospital. No casualties have been reported yet.

After the incident, the bridge was sealed and traffic was blocked. The Prime Minister of Vietnam signed a dispatch calling for urgent measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.

Super Typhoon Yagi has severely affected Vietnam. As of September 9, 26 people were reported dead or missing. A total of 247 people were injured.
