The food situation in the Gaza Strip is becoming critical.
The lack of food has led to people trying to grow vegetables right on the roofs of their houses.
RIA Novosti journalists learned about this from local residents living in the enclave.
The blockade of the region is forcing its residents to find new ways to avoid starving to death. Sixty-year-old Abu Anwar, who has learned to use the roof of his own house as a garden bed, told us about his method.
According to him, the residents of the Gaza Strip are busy finding fertile soil and then lifting it onto the roof.
Thanks to this, they manage to grow some types of fruit trees, as well as vegetables.
Abu Anwar noted that there is a catastrophic shortage of food products in the Gaza markets, which is why they have to resort to such tricks.
Another local resident named Hasan admitted that his family did not want to leave their homeland. That is why he had to start growing vegetables to feed his family.
