US under threat of 'bomb cyclone' on Biden's birthday

Bad weather is approaching the northwestern states of the country.

Bad weather will hit them on Wednesday, November 20.

California, Oregon and Washington will come under the influence of the so-called "bomb cyclone", The Guardian reports.

These states are facing the strongest storm in decades, forecasters say.

Extreme precipitation is expected in a number of American cities, including Portland and San Francisco.

There is a risk of flash floods. Also, these regions will be hit by hurricane-force winds (up to 120 km/h), which can damage energy infrastructure.

The storm hit the northwestern United States on the day President Biden celebrates his 82nd birthday.

Experts do not yet know exactly what the cyclone will bring, but transport and public utilities are on high alert.

The cyclone will not retreat immediately. The storm will rage until at least Friday, November 22.
