The skeleton of the largest dinosaur in the history of auctions was sold in Paris for 6 million euros.

The skeleton in question is that of Argentinotaurus, one of the largest dinosaurs to ever exist.

The dinosaur's remains were found in 2012 in the Argentine province of Chubut. About 60% of its skeleton was preserved in good condition, the AFP report emphasized.

A reconstructed specimen that caused a sensation in the world of paleontology was put up for auction.

The rare skeleton was acquired by a private collector, whose name has not been disclosed.

Experts said the find was unique and of great scientific value.

The giant herbivore's skeleton is 75 to 80 percent original bone and experts believe it is about 150 million years old.

The price of the unusual lot at auction was estimated at between three and five million euros.

According to the agreement, the future owner undertakes to provide paleontologists with access to the dinosaur for further study.
