The only telecommunications cable connecting Finland with Germany has broken

Serious damage was caused to the only telecommunications cable that ran through Germany and Finland.

The damaged area is located on Finnish territory.

Details were reported on Monday, November 18, by the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat .

The C-Lion1 cable break occurred underwater. Preparations are underway to carry out repair work.

The special vessel has already been equipped and is ready for dispatch, local media reports.

The cause of the emergency has not yet been named. It still needs to be established. The authorities are not commenting on the situation yet.

The timeframe for completing the repair work is still only approximate. Experts note that it usually takes at least 5-15 days to repair underwater telecommunications infrastructure.
