An unusual incident involving coffins occurred in the Czech Republic.
The authorities of the town of Žďár nad Sázavou have banned local residents from burying the deceased in coffins.
The incident was reported by the CNN Prima News portal.
According to media reports, the ban was caused by high groundwater levels. This problem is observed in 80% of the local cemetery.
Due to the threat of flooding, local authorities decided to issue a ban on burying people in coffins, which caused outrage among local residents.
Hundreds of citizens living in Žďár nad Sázavou protested against the policies of the local administration.
It is noted that some local residents have already taken their own measures and resorted to exhumation in order to rebury the remains of their loved ones in another place.
In turn, the authorities explain their decision by the condition of the bodies buried in the local cemetery. According to their information, the bodies do not decompose here for a long time, and it is not possible to find a new place for the cemetery.
This is why there was a ban on burials in coffins: it is only allowed to place urns with ashes in graves.
