Sandu received more than 55% of the votes after 99.46% of the protocols were processed

The interim results of the elections in Moldova have become known.

After processing 99.46% of the protocols, the current president, Maia Sandu, is in the lead.

RIA Novosti reported this on Monday, November 4, citing information provided by the Central Election Commission of Moldova.

Let us recall that the second round of presidential elections ended in Moldova the day before.

The votes between the two rival candidates were ultimately divided as follows:

  • Maia Sandu, supported by pro-Western forces, received 55.22%;
  • Alexander Stoyanoglo, representing the opposition, received 44.78%.

It is noted that the oppositionist beat Sandu in the republic itself and in his native autonomy of Gagauzia, gaining 51.19% and 95.85%, respectively.

Maia Sandu is leading in the Moldovan capital Chisinau with 57.35% of the vote.

In the first round, none of the presidential candidates received the required number of votes. Sandu had 42.45% against Stoianoglo, who received 25.98 percent.

In the second round of presidential voting, the candidate for whom the majority of citizens vote will win.
