Russians vacationing in Bali were caught off guard by an erupting volcano.
Details were reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
Indonesia is popular among tourists from the Russian Federation. Citizens especially love vacationing on the island of Bali.
But recently a volcano erupted there, RIA Novosti reports.
The Lewotobi volcano has taken thousands of tourists by surprise. Australian airlines, for example, have announced that they are temporarily canceling flights to Bali due to safety concerns due to the volcano's ash.
At that moment, Russian tourists were also vacationing on the island. They were unable to go home in time and found themselves in a virtually hopeless situation.
They had to wait until the situation with the volcano stabilized.
ATOR reported that flights have already been launched. And those tourists who have not yet flown out were accommodated in hotels at the expense of tour operators.
The first eruption of the volcano occurred on November 3. The natural disaster caused the death of 10 people.
After this, the volcano erupted several more times.
