Russian gets 40 months in prison in US for selling stolen bank data

A Russian citizen has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for selling financial and indicative information on the criminal online marketplace Slilpp.

A Russian man going by the nickname "TeRorPP" sold about 300,000 login credentials.

The defendant was an active seller of stolen information on an online dark market, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia said .

A Russian man put over 626,100 stolen login credentials up for sale. He sold over 297,300 of them on Slilpp online.

During the investigation, it was discovered that these credentials were linked to fraudulent transactions worth $1.2 million.

A Russian citizen is suspected of conspiracy to commit fraud under aggravating circumstances.

The Russian has been in custody since his extradition to the United States.

The judge ordered the defendant to pay $1,233,521.47 in restitution in addition to the prison term.
