The demonstrators, inside the parliament building, once again voiced demands for the president’s resignation and the removal of the issue of the investment agreement with the Russian Federation from the agenda.

The unrest began on November 11 due to the authorities' decision to accept the ratification of the investment agreement between Russia and Abkhazia.

The opposition believes that the agreement does not take into account the interests of the republic, RIA Novosti writes.

Amid opposition pressure, parliament cancelled its November 15 session and will withdraw the agreement.

The protesters broke down the fence around the parliament building, the bars on the windows and broke into the building.

According to local sources, more than two thousand people are participating in the action.

The Minister of Internal Affairs and the head of the State Security Service held negotiations with the opposition.

The President of Abkhazia called an emergency meeting to resolve the situation and prevent further escalation.

Law enforcement agencies in Abkhazia have been put on high alert to ensure control over the situation in the country.
