A plane carrying tourists exploded in mid-air and crashed in the jungles of Thailand.

The incident occurred near Bangkok on Thursday, August 22.

The private jet Cessna 208B Grand-Caravan set off from Bangkok, writes the Asia Pacific Press portal.

About 10 minutes after takeoff, the pilots stopped communicating.

The plane was supposed to take 7 tourists to the island of Koh Mai Si (Trat province). But eyewitnesses report that the Cessna exploded in the air, broke into pieces and scattered debris around the area.

The incident occurred over a mangrove forest in a swampy area.

Rescuers and doctors arrived at the scene of the emergency, but so far they have found only the tourists' luggage. Neither passengers nor pilots were found.

It is highly likely that everyone on board died. We are talking about seven passengers and two pilots. Five tourists are Chinese citizens.

The search continues, Thai emergency services said.
