A female volunteer went missing after the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics and was found dead two days later.
Police suspect that she was killed by another volunteer with whom she was in a relationship.
The 21-year-old girl went missing on August 11. She was last seen at the Stade de France, where the closing ceremony of the Games took place that day, Le Parisien writes.
The girl's mother raised the alarm. The police began searching and on the night of August 13, her body was found in an apartment in Paris.
The body was taken to the Paris Institute of Forensic Medicine, where an autopsy will be performed. But it is already known that the girl was most likely murdered.
A hematoma and a wound on her neck were found on the left side of her head. The suspect is the girl's boyfriend, whom she had been dating for about two years.
He was found drunk and unconscious. He is currently in hospital, after which police will take him into custody until the circumstances are clarified.
Le Parisien writes that shortly before his arrest, the young man sent a message to an acquaintance saying that he had done something “stupid.”
