99-year-old Yaroslav Gunko (Hunka) has been placed on the international wanted list.

This information was reported on Thursday, August 22, by the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia.

Representatives of the department said that some countries are not showing much zeal in the fight against Nazism.

But the Prosecutor General's Office managed to get Hunka included in the Interpol database, TASS reports.

The agency noted that back in December 2023, an attempt was made to establish contact with Canada on the issue of extraditing the former SS man.

But the refusal was received. With this decision, the Canadian authorities violated the principle of the inevitability of punishment, the Prosecutor General's Office emphasized.

In Russia, a native of the Ukrainian SSR is accused in absentia of mass murder of Soviet citizens.

The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, stated that Hunka and his accomplices from the SS Galicia Division were involved in the murder of at least 500 people.

Until 2023, there was no information about him anywhere. But in September of last year, he was invited to the Canadian parliament.

By the way, the issue of extraditing Hunk as a war criminal is being discussed in Poland.
