Media: Haniyeh's murder derailed peace talks in Gaza

The foreign press has reported that the assassination of the head of the Palestinian Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, has disrupted peace talks on Gaza.

It is emphasized that after the incident, Egypt and Qatar broke off contacts with Tel Aviv.

The EFE newspaper writes, citing Egyptian officials: “All communications with Israel have been completely cut off,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

Egypt and Qatar were supposed to act as mediators in matters of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Gaza.

It is emphasized that Haniyeh's death caused "an outburst of anger and condemnation" in the enclave and beyond.

A number of world government officials have expressed criticism over the assassination of the Hamas political bureau chief.

According to EFE, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is doing everything to ensure that a peaceful settlement to the Middle East conflict does not occur."
