The situation in the Maldives has become known.

The president of the island nation has warned of an attempted coup.

This was reported by the local publication Edition , citing a statement made by the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu.

As the politician emphasized, this is precisely how he views the decision taken by one of the Maldivian banks.

The financial institution had previously suspended foreign transactions that were made using bank cards that had accounts opened in the local currency, the Maldivian rufiyaa.

This decision did not go unnoticed by the Central Bank of the Maldives, which recommended that the financial institution cancel this decision.

Muizzu stressed that he opposed the bank’s decision, but its board decided to act contrary to the opinion of the head of state.

The situation was aggravated by the fact that at the same time a bot attack was launched using social networks and calls to overthrow the current government in the Maldives.

However, the majority of members on the board of the financial institution were not appointed by the government of the Maldives.
