Against the backdrop of the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, they spoke out about Russians living in the country.
The state is ready to facilitate the evacuation of Russian citizens if necessary.
This statement was made by the Lebanese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Shawki Bou Nassar, in an interview with the TASS agency.
Let us recall that the situation in the Middle East escalated again on October 1.
Israel has launched a military operation against the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, which has expressed its support for the Palestinian organization Hamas.
Because of this, the situation in Lebanon, admitted Shawki Bou Nassar, is considered critical and it is unknown how events will develop further.
The ambassador noted that there are currently about 10 thousand Russian citizens living in his country who also have Lebanese citizenship.
People were informed that if necessary they could contact the embassy in Beirut and ask for assistance.
The Lebanese representative did not rule out that the Russians might need to be evacuated. In that case, he stressed, Beirut is ready to provide Moscow with any assistance that is required to organize the return of Russian citizens to their homeland.
