At the age of 2, the boy was kidnapped while in the care of his grandparents and sold to a wealthy family.
But the new parents beat and humiliated the child. At the age of 5, he was told that he was allegedly adopted, and at the age of 11, he was given to another family.
He couldn't live there for long either and eventually ran away. He wandered around for a while, and managed to live in Beijing and Shanghai, where he worked as a courier.
As an adult, he continued to try to find his biological parents.
In 2023, he managed to do this with the help of the police through DNA. Experts found Baobao's relatives when he turned 36.
