Tehran called the military actions an act of self-defense.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry wrote about this on its official Telegram channel.
Representatives of the country's foreign policy department referred to Article 51 of the UN Charter, according to which a state has the right to self-defense in the event of an attack.
At the same time, Tehran emphasized that the attacks targeted exclusively military facilities related to security issues.
It is noted that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone conversations with colleagues from other countries, including Germany, France and Great Britain, discussing with them the consequences of such a step.
Iran's position was based on the fact that for a long time the state had shown a restrained stance towards the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
