In the US, rats almost killed a baby due to the negligence of his father
A horrific incident of infant neglect occurred in Indiana.
A six-month-old baby was found in a critical condition in a home after being attacked by rats.
The baby suffered serious injuries and was urgently hospitalized, the Mirror reports.
Police found the baby covered in blood after 50 rat bites.
The child suffered injuries to his nose, cheeks, forehead, arms, legs and feet. The rats chewed the fingers on the child's right hand to the bone.
Police said the baby would now be permanently disfigured.
During the trial, prosecutors urged jurors to find the child's father guilty of negligence.
He left the house in a terrible state, which ended with the rats almost eating the child alive.
Prosecutors argued the man deliberately ignored the danger of worsening conditions in the home.
The child is currently recovering. The man will be sentenced on October 2.
