A Massachusetts teenager lost his sight due to a severe vitamin deficiency caused by poor nutrition.
A 12-year-old boy with autism and a selective eating disorder ate only doughnuts and hamburgers with sugary juices.
He avoided almost all healthy foods, the Daily Mail reports. His diet consisted of doughnuts, French fries and hamburgers.
At the beginning of 2024, the boy's eyesight suddenly deteriorated.
After a month and a half, he began to need his parents' help to move around. Then came blindness.
The study showed that the cause of his illness was vitamin deficiency and optic nerve atrophy.
Doctors said that the child lacked the vitamins necessary to maintain health.
At the hospital, the boy was prescribed a course of vitamins, psychotherapy, and an expanded diet.
Now the child can eat cheese and salads, however, according to doctors, the lost vision will not be restored.
