The hosts of the championship failed to reach the quarter-finals, losing to Spain.

The Germans cite the decision of the English match referee, Anthony Taylor, as the reason for this.

More than 300,000 German residents have signed a petition calling for a rematch between the German and Spanish national teams, Sky Sport Deutschland reports.

The match for a place in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 ended with a 2:1 victory for Spain. The standard 90 minutes of play were not enough for the teams to determine the winner.

Extra time was called. During this period, the Spaniards finally "squeezed" the Germans and snatched victory.

However, there was an episode in the match that caused controversy among fans. The Germans claim that in the second half of extra time, Spanish defender Marc Cucurella played with his hand in the penalty area.

But referee Taylor decided there was no reason to award a penalty. If the referee had awarded one, the spectators would most likely have seen a series of post-match penalties. Then the match could have ended differently.

This is the opinion of the disappointed Germans, who are demanding a replay.

The Spaniards also have complaints about the referee. They are sure that Taylor should have sent off German Toni Kroos for a rough play against Pedri. The midfielder was injured and will now not be able to play in the semi-final.

Earlier, the amount of money that blackmailers demanded from Michael Schumacher's family became known.
