Goat and sheep plague virus detected on farm in Romania

Not long ago, an unpleasant event occurred in Romania that threatened the lives of many animals.

The peste des petits ruminants (PPR) virus has been found in Romania. Details are reported by TASS with reference to the National Administration for Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety.

The scene of the incident was a zoo farm in the village of Baia (Tulcea County).

It is noted that, in accordance with the law, the Romanian authorities decided to liquidate the entire herd and bury it on the farm.

According to the administration, a protective zone has been created around the contaminated area. In addition, monitoring of the movement of people and transport nearby has been organized.

They also noted that the World Organization for Animal Health, other animal farms, and the European Commission were informed about the incident.
