New details have emerged in the death of a French teacher who was beheaded by a refugee in October 2020.

The refugee Anzorov went to the suburbs of Paris, where the history teacher lived, and lay in wait for him on his way home.

He attacked the teacher because he believed he had "offended the feelings" of one of his Muslim students by allegedly showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in class, France24 reports.

The police, seeing the teacher's headless body, shot Anzorov not far from the crime scene.

Now facing charges of slander and incitement to murder, the father of the girl who lied regrets overreacting to her complaints.

He also made negative comments about a refugee who, as it turned out, had been in contact with him.

The girl admitted in court that she lied to her mother about the teacher to justify a two-day suspension from school for missing classes.

In December 2023, the court sentenced the teenager to 18 months probation on charges of defamation.
