FBI documents on the Profumo Affair, which led to a change of power in Britain, have been released.

The affair, which took place in 1963, involved Prince Philip, Defence Secretary John Profumo and his mistress, model Christine Keeler.

But it is claimed that the 19-year-old girl had another suitor - Soviet naval attaché Yevgeny Ivanov. British intelligence services considered him a GRU agent, writes the Daily Mail .

When the love triangle was revealed, scandal erupted. Profumo resigned and the Conservative Party he represented lost the election.

FBI Director Edgar Hoover reported in his telegram that he had received information about Prince Philip's connection with Keeler and her friend Mandy Rice-Davies.

By that time, the member of the royal family was married to Elizabeth II and was raising a son, Charles, who is now known as Charles III.

The prince may have met ladies of easy virtue through the artist Stephen Ward. At that time, he painted portraits of many prominent political figures of the era.

Through Ward, Prince Philip met Yevgeny Ivanov, who was visited by that same Keeler and her friend.
