Chinese official Zhong Yang has found herself at the center of a high-profile scandal involving corruption and sexual relations.
A female official in southwest China has been sentenced to 13 years in prison, stripped of her job and fined one million yuan ($140,000).
The woman had sexual relations with at least 58 subordinates. She also received bribes worth about 60 million yuan (US$8.5 million), The Star reports.
She was the governor and deputy party secretary of Qiannan Prefecture in Guizhou.
She grew up in a modest family, never married and had no children.
The official became famous in China when she created an association for fruit growing and agriculture, helping farmers and the elderly.
Unpleasant facts about her career came to light after the release of a documentary.
Zhong Yang was reported to have accepted bribes and used her position to secure lucrative contracts for select companies.
It also turned out that the official had 58 lovers. The woman was often seen in private nightclubs.
As a result of the exposure, the official was expelled from the party, stripped of her position, sentenced to 13 years in prison and a large fine.
