The incident occurred after the vehicle drove between two taxiing airliners.

The jet stream from the first plane suddenly threw the containers towards the second plane, Daily Online reports.

A long-haul flight was taxiing to land when a baggage conveyor passed the plane.

Suddenly, the luggage boxes began to be pulled off the cart by a powerful stream of air and pulled towards the plane's engines.

Then one of the boxes flew into the engine and exploded into pieces.

None of the passengers were injured, but the plane was damaged and required repair.

The Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 47 experienced engine trouble as it taxied to the gate.

American Airlines said in a statement that after landing safely at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, the plane from London reported engine damage while taxiing.

The maintenance team took the aircraft out of service for inspection.
