Austria closes production of Mozart candies
The Salzburg chocolate factory in Grödig will be closed.

Salzburg chocolate factory Mirabell has released the last "Real Salzburg Mozartkugel", DerStandard reports.
The closure of the plant near Salzburg has been known since June.
American company Mondelez is moving its production abroad.
Most employees' contracts end at the end of December, while some don't end until March.
Some of the equipment has been sold, but no buyer has yet been found for the building.
Salzburg Chocolate filed for bankruptcy in November 2021.
Following the filing of insolvency proceedings in February 2022, the Romanian group KEX Confectionery bought the Salzburg plant.
High costs of raw materials, supplies, energy and transportation were cited as reasons for the closure.
