A rare coin was sold at auction in Denmark.

Collectors were given the opportunity to purchase coins that belonged to businessman and numismatist Lars Emil Brun.

The Antiques Trade Gazette reports that a 15th-century coin, "Noble Hans", was sold at an auction in Copenhagen.

There are only two such coins known in the world. Its initial price was estimated at 300-600 thousand euros, but during the auction the price rose to 1.2 million euros (124.2 million rubles).

In total, Brun's collection includes 20 thousand ancient coins.

He began collecting them after the First World War and bequeathed after his death (1923) not to sell the collection for 100 years.

The descendants carried out the order. All this time the collection was kept in the Royal Collection of Coins and Medals.

So far, 286 coins have been sold. For example, 10 ducats (Denmark, 17th century) went under the hammer for more than 500 thousand euros (51.7 million rubles). Only 4 such examples are known.

The bulk of the coins were sold for amounts exceeding ten thousand euros.
