Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the great martyrs Proclus and Hilary.

Among the people, this celebration is called Proclus the Weeper.

In Rus', it was customary not to leave the house on this day, since it was believed that it rained especially heavily on this day.

In addition, it was not recommended to carry out any sowing work.

The Great Martyr Proclus was a devout Christian believer. He lived during the years when the government was concentrated in the hands of Emperor Trajan.

Proclus was persecuted by pagans for his beliefs, but miraculously he always managed to escape punishment. However, one day he was captured and thrown into prison, where he was required to renounce Christ.

The preacher was adamant. Then he was forced to run at full speed behind the imperial chariot.

Proclus passed the test, and for this he was sentenced to death. Already at the place of execution, he unexpectedly met his nephew Ilarius, who was not afraid to stand on his uncle's side.

Hilary declared that he too was a Christian, for which he was also killed by idolaters.
