Mironov Day: What can and cannot be done on this holiday - note for Orthodox Christians

Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the holy martyr Myron of Cyzicus.
Among the people, this celebration is called Myron's Day.
In Rus', on this day it was customary to complete all gardening work and prepare for the onset of leaf fall.
It was worth getting the appropriate equipment out of the barn to start the harvesting work.
Hieromartyr Myron was born in the Greek city of Achaia in the 3rd century AD. Even in his early youth, he chose the path of religion for himself.
Myron later rose to the rank of presbyter in his city. He was a believer during the reign of Emperor Decius.
Despite the fact that Myron had a very patient and gentle character, he always sought to protect his parishioners.
One day, during the celebration of Christmas, pagans broke into the temple where Myron served and captured him along with the rest of the believers.
The preacher was cruelly tortured and then thrown to the lion. But the lion, instead of killing the priest, bit through his bonds.
Then the idolaters decided to behead the believer. He died without ever having renounced his beliefs.
What you can't do on Mironov's Day
On this day, many people followed certain rules:
- did not visit cemeteries and other burial sites;
- did not mention demons and devils in conversation;
- did not enter into quarrels with neighbors.
It was on August 30 that it was considered a grave sin to commit ungodly acts, namely, to be offended by loved ones. Otherwise, according to beliefs, a whole year of deprivation would come.

Today it is recommended to provide assistance to all those who need it.
In addition, you can start preparing supplies for the winter.
In the evening, you should sort out all unnecessary things and get rid of them.
