Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the great virgin Anna, who is the mother of the Holy Mother of God.

People call this celebration Anna Summer.

In Rus', it was customary to watch the weather on this day. Thus, it was believed that the morning cold promises cold weather in December-February.

Continuous rain indicates that the winter will most likely be very snowy.

Anna was the daughter of a priest who, in turn, preached in Bethlehem.

The future saint married Joachim, who was also a priest and spread the teachings of God among the pagans.

Despite the fact that Anna and Joachim dreamed of having children, for fifty years nothing worked out for them.

Then the husband of the future mother of the Virgin Mary went into the desert, where he spent much time in prayer. He fasted and constantly asked God to send him a child.

The Lord heard Joachim's prayers and sent an angel to him. He informed him that his wife would soon give birth to the Most Holy Mother of God. This is what happened later.
