The traditional dish for Maslenitsa is pancakes.
But this dish can harm the body if you make some mistakes in its preparation.
Gastroenterologist Rustem Sadykov shared the details, as reported by Doctor Peter .
It is noted that when preparing pancakes, it is important to choose the right oil for frying.
Some housewives cook this dish with butter. But this is a mistake.
The specialist explained that such oil is not intended to be heated at high temperatures for a long time.
As a result, it will start to overheat and smoke. Moreover, as the specialist pointed out, under such conditions carcinogens can get into the product.
These substances can accumulate in the body and have a negative impact on health.
Therefore, the expert advises choosing other oils for making pancakes. For example, coconut, olive or sunflower.
The doctor also recalled that in the old days, pancakes were cooked with lard.
He emphasized that this product does not release harmful substances when melted. At the same time, it can enrich the dish with vitamins.
In addition, the doctor pointed out that some people should not add butter to ready-made pancakes. In particular, this applies to those with high cholesterol.
He explained that such oil can lead to a jump in so-called "bad" cholesterol. And this is fraught with certain problems with blood vessels.
Experts also advise being careful with sweet fillings for pancakes, as they increase the calorie content of the dish.
For the filling, you can use healthy products: fish, cottage cheese, caviar or fresh fruit.
