Age spots are one of the most common skin problems that many people face.

They can appear on the face, hands, neck and other parts of the body, and can be of varying shades, from light beige to dark brown.

The appearance of age spots can be caused by various factors, and in this article we will look at the main causes and ways to combat them, says Nailya Shigapova .

Why do pigment spots appear?

1. Ultraviolet radiation

One of the main causes of pigment spots is prolonged exposure of the skin to ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV radiation stimulates increased production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. This can lead to the appearance of dark spots, including freckles.

2. Hormonal changes

Hormonal changes, such as pregnancy or the use of hormonal drugs, can cause pigment spots to appear. This is due to increased levels of estrogen, which stimulates the activity of melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin.

3. Aging

As we age, our skin loses its natural ability to regenerate and protect itself from environmental damage. This can lead to uneven pigment distribution and the appearance of age spots.

4. Inflammation and injury

Skin inflammation caused by acne, eczema or other skin conditions can lead to hyperpigmentation - increased melanin production and spots. Also, injuries such as abrasions or burns can leave dark marks on the skin.

How to deal with them

1. Use sunscreen

To prevent new pigment spots from appearing and existing ones from getting worse, it is necessary to use sunscreens with a high level of protection from UV radiation. Regular application of a cream with SPF 50 or higher will help protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun's rays.

2. Use bleaching agents

To reduce the appearance of age spots, you can use bleaching creams or serums that contain ingredients such as hydroquinone, azelaic acid, vitamin C, or retinol. These will help speed up skin cell turnover and reduce melanin levels.

3. Exfoliate

Peeling will help remove the top layer of dead skin cells and stimulate the regeneration of new cells. At the same time, pigment spots become less noticeable. Peeling is best done in a cosmetologist's office.

4. Consultation with a dermatologist

If you have serious problems with skin pigmentation or home remedies do not give results, it is recommended to consult a dermatologist. He will be able to determine the cause of pigmentation spots and offer more effective treatments, such as laser treatment or chemical peeling.

Proper care and regular use of the above methods will help improve the condition of the skin and make pigment spots less noticeable!
