Of course, there are many variations of normal nail color and shape, and it is difficult for a non-doctor to establish pathology, but everyone should know the main signs of “abnormality”.

The most famous symptom of the pathology is "drumsticks", in which the terminal phalanges of the hands thicken and the nails take on the appearance of watch glasses.

Such a change indicates serious cardiac or pulmonary pathology.

White spots on nails may be a harbinger of good luck, but they certainly do not indicate excellent health. They occur due to a lack of calcium and zinc.

Pale nails indicate the development of anemia, yellowness occurs with liver disease, and colorless nails are the result of allergies, stress or a cold.

You should take especially seriously the appearance of dark spots under the nail, which may be a manifestation of a dangerous disease - melanoma.

Many pathologies are indicated by changes in the lunulae at the base of the nail. According to Tibetan doctors, small and thin lunulae are found in people with lung diseases or in long-term smokers.

A decrease or absence of the lunula on the index finger may be a sign of a malfunction of the intestines, pancreas or liver.

Changes on the middle finger are associated with unstable blood pressure, and on the ring finger – with endocrine problems.

The listed features are only a small part of the changes that occur during diseases.

If something is bothering you, you should immediately contact a specialist.
