A research team of biologists from Canada has synthesized a substance that can effectively repel ticks.
It is reported that the product contains ant pheromones.
In an article for the scientific journal The Royal Society, the scientists explained: "Ants are the main enemies of ticks. We decided to take advantage of this fact."
It is indicated that the researchers synthesized compounds from ant venom and Dufour's gland, which in symbiosis had a destructive effect on ticks.
Scientists emphasized: “Such a medicine can become an excellent assistant for a person in the fight against ticks.”
The researchers also pointed to the fact of impending global warming, which will result in the emergence of more and more of these blood-sucking parasites.
It is known that ticks are primarily dangerous due to their ability to carry such dangerous diseases as encephalitis and borreliosis.
