Over 5 years, drug production in Moscow has grown almost 2.5 times

One of the key segments of the capital region’s economy is pharmaceuticals and the production of medical products.

Medical products are strategically important and allow the replacement of expensive foreign-made analogues.

As reported in the Telegram channel of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, over the five-year period, it was possible to increase the volume of drug production by almost 3 times.

The main production facilities are located in the special economic zone (SEZ) "Technopolis". Currently, 11 companies manufacture products at 8 production sites.

The creation of new production facilities makes it possible to produce rare medicines that were acquired exclusively through imports.

The need to produce certain drugs arose after sanctions were imposed on the Russian Federation by Western countries.

In the near future, the production cluster will cover 80% of the number of drugs for the treatment of oncological diseases.

It was previously reported that Technopolis will begin producing a unique vaccine against acute respiratory viral infections.
