A nutritionist shared her observations about sauerkraut.

Despite the enormous benefits of this product, there are categories of people who are not recommended to eat it.

Nutritionist Elena Solomatina voiced her point of view in a conversation with the Moscow 24 portal.

Solomatina reminded that sauerkraut contains vitamin C, tartaric acid, which promotes weight loss, and fiber, which is good for digestion.

This product can be eaten every day, but not for everyone.

Fermented foods such as sauerkraut contain fiber and acid, which can be harmful in the following cases:

  • the person experiences problems with the gastrointestinal tract;
  • The person was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

In the first case, the acid can provoke an attack of pancreatitis, peptic ulcer and other chronic gastrointestinal diseases.

If a person has been diagnosed with thyroid problems, then cabbage is contraindicated in any form. This vegetable has the ability to block the production of thyroid hormones.
