Angina is not only an unpleasant but also a rather dangerous disease.

If you self-medicate this disease, you can get into serious trouble.

Otolaryngologist Boris Starosvetsky issued this warning in a conversation with the KP.RU portal.

The expert recalled that tonsillitis can be bacterial or viral. And it is the first variant that is considered the most dangerous because it causes complications to the heart, joints, kidneys and other body systems.

Moreover, if a complication occurs, it stays with a person for life.

The doctor reminded that many colds are accompanied by pain and a sore throat. However, tonsillitis has two clear signs that should never be ignored:

  • plaque on the tonsils;
  • enlarged lymph nodes.

In both cases, you should contact a specialist as soon as possible.

For reference

Acute tonsillitis , commonly known as angina, is an infectious disease with local manifestations in the form of acute inflammation of the components of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring, most often the palatine tonsils.
