A large-scale study conducted by scientists over 17 years has revealed the non-obvious benefits of one popular drink.
By drinking a glass of milk a day, women received additional preventive protection against cancer.
This is the conclusion reached by researchers from Oxford University, who shared their results in the journal Nature Communications .
During the experiment, 97 different products were identified and the impact of their consumption on the health of 540 thousand women who took part in the study was tracked.
It turned out that those people who drank one glass of milk a day were 17% less likely to suffer from colon cancer.
The 300 milligrams of calcium contained in this serving of the popular drink can help prevent colorectal cancer in women.
Scientists have also found that non-dairy sources of calcium have a similar effect.
In addition, scientists are confident that the positive effects of calcium can protect not only women, but also men from cancer.
