Is it possible to dye hair with henna: the harm and benefits of this option

You decided to dye your reddish hair with henna and suddenly heard the opinion that this natural dye, known for its strengthening properties, is harmful to hair. Is it true?

Henna is a rather insidious product. It really does strengthen hair, adds volume and shine. But it can be used no more than once every 2-3 months.

The thing is that henna has a tanning effect on hair and scalp - with frequent dyeing with it, hair scales and pores become clogged. Hair becomes dry and lifeless.

Keep in mind: you can only dye your hair with natural Iranian or Indian henna, ideally brought from these countries.

Do not under any circumstances buy the so-called “white henna” or other cheap henna-based dye substitutes.

The first is an active lightening agent, the second are harmful metal-containing mixtures that destroy the hair structure.

Important point: it is advisable for girls with red or brown hair to use henna - this is exactly your case.

On cold-toned hair, its copper pigment can give an unpredictable color effect that will be difficult to get rid of. Chemical dyes do not take henna, and its removal will harm the health of the hair.

And one more thing - we advise you not to do it yourself. Trust the coloring to an experienced master.

For example, most salons will offer you proper hair care using professional henna-based cosmetics.

For home use, you can buy a soft tint shampoo with henna extract (Timotei) or another natural component that gives a copper tint (Yves Rocher with cinchona).

They won't color your hair intensely, but they will give it a light reddish shine and won't damage your hair.
