The habit of not getting enough sleep is a legacy of our modern times.

Everyday life is hard for both city dwellers and villagers.

Let's say, in a big city you need to get to work for at least two hours, which means you need to get up early, plus time to get yourself in order. In the evening: cooking, cleaning, washing.

You go to bed late at night thinking: “When will I get enough sleep?”

In the village, it's all about getting up at dawn. Milk the cows, feed the piglets. In the evening, it's the same story. The result is chronic sleep deprivation.

On the one hand, a person gets used to this pace, and the consequences become less obvious, but their danger increases every day.

Absent-mindedness, loss of attention and concentration, forgetfulness - in such a state, driving a car and other activities that require control are simply contraindicated. And mothers who have not had enough sleep are as dangerous to their children as a grenade.

But then comes the long-awaited vacation – a bonanza for sleep. We begin to sleep twelve hours a day, forgetting that it is impossible to get enough sleep.

Too much sleep is even worse for the body than not having it. So how much sleep does an adult need?

Napoleon got by with four hours and was happy. But for some, even nine hours is not enough.

Let's say, everything depends on the characteristics of the organism. For example, "owls" need more time to rest than "larks". However, the generally accepted norm is still established.

Previously, it was defined as eight hours. Now the opinion of scientists has shifted to seven hours. People who adhere to such a schedule have the maximum life expectancy.

Those who sleep an hour less can no longer boast of longevity. "Sonny" live much less than both.

But the greatest threat to life appears for those who spend less than five hours a day sleeping, so making Napoleonic plans for yourself is highly discouraged.
