Expert: Almost all people with vaping disease need hospitalization
The head of the Center for Prevention and Control of Tobacco Consumption of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Marine Gambaryan, reported that almost all people with vaping disease require hospitalization.
According to the expert, one third of such patients seriously need mechanical ventilation.
Gambaryan noted: “The vaper disease, called EVALI, causes acute lung damage,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
Also, according to Gambaryan, the main symptoms of EVALI are similar to the symptoms of coronavirus infection.
Expert recommendations
The expert added: “Patients experience fever, weakness, cough and shortness of breath.”
In addition, people suffering from EVALI begin to develop pathological processes in the lungs.
The specialist also clarified that doctors first started talking about this disease in the United States in 2019.
According to Gambaryan, during the specified period of time, there was an epidemic of vaping, especially among the younger generation of citizens.
