Biologists from the Medical University of Vienna reported that they have found a link between salt abuse and the risk of developing stomach cancer.
According to experts, the more salt a person consumes, the more intensively substances that promote the development of cancerous tumors accumulate in his body.
Scientists explained: “People who frequently add salt to their food are 39 percent more likely to develop stomach cancer than dieters,” as reported by Medical Insider magazine.
It is emphasized that an experiment was conducted which showed that salt lovers, with their preferences, increased the risk of developing cancerous tissue in their bodies over 11 years of poor nutrition.
It is also emphasized that during the research, biologists took into account demographic and socio-economic factors.
In addition, the subjects' comorbidities were taken into account.
