Gastroenterologist Lyudmila Sukhorukova from the Vidnovskaya Clinical Hospital of the Moscow Region Ministry of Health warned about the risks of eating sausages.

Frequent consumption of sausages can lead to serious illnesses.

This includes colorectal cancer, dementia and coronary heart disease, RIA Novosti writes.

In 2015, WHO classified processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen.

This means that there is a proven link between this product and cancer.

Research has shown that eating 50 grams of processed meat daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 percent.

Frequent consumption of sausages also contributes to the development of dementia and coronary heart disease.

Sukhorukova advises limiting the consumption of sausages and other processed meat products.

The doctor recommends choosing alternative sources of protein and sticking to a balanced diet.
