Often during New Year and other long holidays we allow ourselves to overindulge.
However, even at such times it is important to keep yourself in hand.
As Ksenia Solovieva, an endocrinologist at Lahta Clinic, told RIA Novosti, in order to protect yourself from overeating, it is important to follow simple rules.
Don't starve yourself. Trying to lose weight quickly by going on exhausting diets will only lead to subsequent overeating.
Eat the right foods. The doctor reminded that foods rich in fiber, such as vegetables, cereals, mushrooms, contribute to faster satiety.
Don't eat more than you should. Put a portion of food on your plate and don't add more during the evening. And if you really want to, wait 15 minutes: it's quite possible that you haven't yet felt full.
Be guided by the sizes. Vegetables can fill half a plate, but a portion of meat or fish should not exceed a palm. At the same time, you can eat a fist-sized handful of bulk carbohydrates (potatoes or pasta).
