Clematis is one of the most popular vines growing in Russian gardens.

Despite the fact that the plant is considered to be quite unpretentious, sometimes gardeners and summer residents are faced with the fact that it does not bloom.

Let's look at the main reasons why this happens.

Why does clematis not bloom?

There are a number of reasons why this happens.

Firstly, if the plant is only 1-2 years old, you may not get any flowers from it. Young clematis is still only growing its root system, and therefore it may not be up to flowers.

The same applies to those vines that are already too old.

Clematis is also very demanding of the soil composition. On heavy soils the plant is oppressed, therefore loam and black soil are best suited.

Nutrient deficiency often causes the plant to grow, but it does not produce flowers. Therefore, it is recommended to feed the flower in the spring, after the snow melts, as well as during the budding period.

Clematis does not tolerate drafts, which is why it is recommended to plant it near a fence, which will become a kind of shield from the wind.
