Green manure is popular for a number of reasons. Firstly, it effectively disinfects the soil. Secondly, it improves its structure.
Thirdly, they stop the growth of weeds, which become a haven for pests that are potential carriers of diseases.
Fourthly, green manure creates a nutrient medium for beneficial microflora.
In the bed where tomatoes grew, green manure is necessarily sown. The best crops are considered to be phacelia, mustard, oilseed radish, rapeseed, lupine.
The plants can be left for the winter, and in the spring they can be dug up or ploughed. As a result, by spring you will have light and loose soil, which is ready for growing new plants.
If the tomatoes were sick, the soil can be treated additionally. For example, there is a folk remedy based on mustard. 200 g is poured into 10 liters of hot water, infused for 2-3 hours and the soil is watered.
