A simple, yet effective procedure will speed up the ripening of tomatoes in the second half of summer.
The fruits will ripen ten times faster and will be large and sweet.
If the so-called tomato “stupor” occurs at the end of July – beginning of August, experienced gardeners resort to one proven trick.
Using a wooden stick or toothpick, make 2–3 shallow punctures (up to 2–3 mm) near the stalk.
Such fruits will ripen quickly, but will not store well, so it is better not to delay using them.
If the tomatoes have fallen into a "stupor" in the greenhouse, then it is closed for a day. After this time, it is aired in the evening to remove condensation.
In addition, at the beginning of August, it is worth reducing watering and applying mineral fertilizers so that the harvest ripens faster on the bushes.
To speed up the ripening of tomatoes, an iodine solution is also used (30–35 drops per 10 liters of warm water). It is applied to the leaves.
For root watering, use a different solution - 20 drops per 10 liters of water with the addition of a liter of fermented milk whey. The application rate is two liters per bush.
