Many summer residents love currants for the unpretentiousness of this bush, which grows and bears fruit practically without human intervention.
However, if you want to achieve a really good harvest, you should not be disdainful of fertilizing the plant.
Let's figure out what is needed for currants to produce a harvest of large and juicy berries.
How to feed currants
Fertilizers must be applied both during the flowering period of the bush and after it has finished flowering.
Currants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and experienced gardeners recommend using organic matter.
For this you will need the following ingredients:
- yeast;
- starch or potato peelings;
- ash;
- fish bones.
Yeast is used to make mash. Take half a kilogram of yeast, add 50 grams of sugar and add all this to a 10-liter bucket of water. Let it ferment for 1-2 days and pour it under the bush.
Dried potato peelings should be crushed and added to the soil after digging.
As for the ash, an infusion is prepared on its basis in a 1:1 ratio with water. Let it brew for a day and add it under the bush.
And another way - 200 grams of ground fish bones, then dissolved in 10 liters of water. One liter of liquid per 1 bush is enough.
